The 2026–2027 cocoa and coffee marketing season is unfolding in a demanding economic environment for producers and agricultural cooperatives in Côte d’Ivoire.
Guaranteed farmgate prices and marketing arrangements should be checked against the latest official announcements from the Coffee and Cocoa Council (Conseil du Café-Cacao). Beyond these price schedules, the season calls for renewed attention to quality, financing and operational management.
Better organisation is essential
Volatility in international markets highlights the importance of rigorous commercial management. For agricultural cooperatives, competitiveness depends on more than the volume of produce collected. Product quality, cost control and reliable business relationships are equally important.
Particular attention should be paid to purchasing plans, access to finance, stock monitoring and delivery arrangements.
Quality and traceability: strategic priorities
Sound fermentation, drying, sorting and storage practices help preserve product quality and reduce losses. At the same time, growing traceability requirements make reliable information about production origins, farmers and marketing channels increasingly important.
Financing as a driver of performance
Access to financial resources remains a major concern for producer organisations. A cooperative may have significant sourcing potential yet lack the working capital needed to fund its operations. Stronger relationships with financial institutions, sound financial reporting and secure transactions are therefore important areas for improvement.
PNC’s vision: strengthening cooperative capacity
The Plateforme Nationale des Coopératives (PNC) advocates an approach based on pooling resources, professionalising marketing activities and building sustainable partnerships. Its priorities include improving negotiating conditions, organising logistics, maintaining product quality and identifying appropriate financing solutions.
PNC is also working on digital tools designed to facilitate commercial relationships among agricultural stakeholders, notably through PNC ONE, a project currently under development.
Building stronger cooperatives
The 2026–2027 season offers an opportunity to improve management practices and strengthen cooperatives’ operational capabilities. Beyond price fluctuations, their long-term sustainability will depend on stronger governance, more secure operations and dependable partnerships.
PNC aims to contribute to this collective effort in support of Ivorian cooperatives and producers.
